Is Marketing Hard?

Marketing is more competitive than ever before.

I can’t tell you how many courses, coaches and agencies there are for running ads on FB alone.

Combine that with more franchises with bigger ad spend, increased numbers of businesses in our industry and more of an acceptance that marketing is a must to be in business…and you’ve got a competitive landscape for sure.

But most business owners make marketing a lot tougher than it needs to be.

They want to be as neutral as possible.

They are unwilling to say anything meaningful in hopes of attracting everyone.

It doesn’t work.

In a world where attention is at a premium, you have to appeal to someone’s emotions if you’re going to get their attention.

You have to get someone to stop what they’re doing and focus on you…

…and the only way you can do that is if you appeal to their unique self-interests…and that won’t happen if you’re saying the same thing that everyone else is saying.

Sometimes you’ve got to risk being a poor fit for most people to help the right people see that you’re a great fit for them.

And what makes this approach even more powerful is that most people aren’t confident enough to do it.

They’ll just follow the crowd into more bland marketing.

But that creates an opportunity to stand out. To show how you’re different.

Yes, it takes a bit of bravery to put yourself out there and quit blending in…

…but the reward is huge.

Not only will you stand out from the masses, but you’ll attract the right people you want to serve if you put your authentic message out there and tell your prospects what’s in it for them.

So, if you want marketing to be simpler and more enjoyable…start by being different.
