Dr. Mike Roussell – Show Notes
Dr. Mike is known for transforming complex nutritional concepts into practical nutritional habits that his clients can use to ensure permanent weight loss and long lasting health. Dr. Mike holds a degree in biochemistry from Hobart College and a doctorate in nutrition from Pennsylvania State University.
His academic background, coupled with his broad range of experience from consulting with pharmaceutical and food companies, medical schools, top rated fitness facilities, professional athletes, and individual clients, gives him the unique ability to translate scientific findings into relevant, understandable, and actionable strategies that get results. As a scientist, his research has been published multiple times in the premiere clinical nutrition journal in the world, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Dr. Mike oversees the optimization of the health, nutrition, and performance of a range of clientele from professional athletes, to celebrities, to Fortune 500 executives. He is also a sought after continuing educator, speaking across the country to physicians, dietitians, nurses, and other health professionals on the most recent advances in the nutritional treatments for cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, and weight loss.
Dr. Mike has always been interested in the fitness industry, being involved in athletics as a kid, as well as science. He went to college and got his degree in Bio Chemistry. Nutrition has always been his passion so he knew that biochemistry and nutrition was where he belonged, continuing his training and getting his PHD for nutrition.
He got a job doing some clinical trials looking at nutrition and cardiovascular disease, but again he seemed to want to turn to nutrition and began writing and doing nutritional counseling.
“You know I’ve just had a passion for disseminating nutrition information for a long time and that’s how it all really started.”
He was speaking and writing and he found himself in a block causing a major setback for him.
“It’s all been said, what am I going to say that is new? That holds them back from going forward.”
Dr. Mike says networking is a large part of getting in the conversation. He also suggests starting a blog, not only to practice writing but it can help you on the networking side of business.
“You have to start sooner than later because this idea of networking, trying to become a leader in that conversation, you can’t leap frog the time of that process.”
Dr. Mike says that networking doesn’t have a measurable ROI, but if you really love what you’re doing it won’t matter.
“You just need to choose what you really love and then you work at it like crazy.”
When he refers to his business now, he says he feels this is the best time in his life.
Dr. Mike also does a lot of nutrition consulting for high-level executives, optimizing their nutrition and fitness and also stress management and day-to-day bases.
“I optimize their health and energy so that they can preform and do what they are trying to do on a daily basis with their businesses.”
Currently, he is working with a colleague on a business to create a nutritionally enhanced coffee called Neuro Coffee. To create this product, they have a taken a brain supplement that is an antioxidant complex from coffee fruit.
“Sometimes you need to delay that gratification so you can put in the work to build something greater.”
