Hey, Pat Rigsby here and in this episode, I wanna talk with you about one of my secret weapons to building your ideal business. Let’s get to it.
Welcome to the fitness business school podcast. The show for fitness business owners who want to grow their income, increase their end impact and improve their lifestyle. Be sure to listen to the end of this episode, because we have a brand new special offer exclusive for listeners. So stay tuned.
Recently I’ve been having some conversations with my lovely wife, Holly, about some things that she’s been doing in her own business, where she’s been creating some leverage from things that she’s already created in the past. And that really kind of got me to think about and wanna share one of the, the, the real foundational elements of how I’ve been able to create my ideal business. And the way I think about marketing or selling or any sort of business growth endeavor. And it is really built around creating assets now, not assets that would show up on a balance sheet. So if you’re thinking about this from the perspective of what your accountant might say, or, or something like that, that’s not what I mean, but for me, an asset could be a script that I wrote that I can recycle again and again, that I can use with different team members to teach them to, to empower them, right?
Like, so if I have a script to, to sell a new prospect, well, if I create this, I can use it many times over and create leverage because every new hire that I have, I can, I can share this with, I can potentially package this up and sell this to other people who might want that same result, that we are deriving from this script in our business. The same would hold true for any system that you create, right? You’re, you’re creating a system. I don’t care if it’s, how do we enter a new client’s information into the computer? Or how do we ask for a referral or how do we onboard a new client? If we document a process, whether it’s on video or in text, if we document a process, now we have this asset that we can use to train other people to again, potentially package up and sell, and very much the same holds true in all my marketing efforts. I write emails very regularly. You, you may be familiar with the fact that I’ve sent out a daily email without missing a day for 17 years.
And part of the, the beauty of this and part of why it, it is something that that has become so important to me is because those emails let’s say that I’m writing 365 of these in a year, then theoretically, maybe half of them are, are, are decent enough that I may wanna reuse in some other format. I may say, Hey, this got a good response. I like this message. I like the way that I said this. So I may use this again. As a post on social media, I may use it as a framework to create a video or do a podcast. It may U it may allow me to be almost like an outline for a topic I wanna share in another format. I may compile them together to create a lead magnet, like a report or even a book. But now I’ve got these assets that I can reuse time and time again. And I’m building up this library of things that allows me to save time where I’m not starting from scratch every time I want to do something. Now, does it take a little bit of planning? Does it take a little bit of purpose in you know, in what we’re doing well? Sure, but the idea here is let’s do something once and it creates much greater value for us over time. It may be something that, Hey, I I’ve written this thing and now I’ve got a template I can share with the clients. So they’ve got a framework to follow so they can go faster. So much of what we do, we become reactive. We become desperate and we’re like, oh, I need to create content.
Well, what you need is for new people to see content or people to see content that maybe they haven’t seen before from you in many cases, that doesn’t mean it has to be brand new. It may mean sharing something with somebody that they just haven’t seen yet. So if you create assets and you’re putting these, these kind of what we would call greatest hits if you’re putting them in front of somebody new, now this is new to them. And they’re seeing this version of you, this you putting your best foot forward. And you know, that yields to more business, more opportunity, save time on your part. So if you want to build a, a really wonderful business that is reflective of, you know, what your values are, what your vision is, and you wanna attract the type of people that you want to attract, and you wanna do it in a way that is also lifestyle friendly to you, then you need to think about, okay, how can I create assets? How can I create tools, resources, systems, content that I can reuse time and time again. Now not every one of them’s gonna be a winner. Like I said, I, I, if half of the emails that I write are winners, I’m excited. But if you think about the fact that maybe 180 out of those 360-ish emails are valuable enough, I can use again, well, that’s 180 other things that are gonna get done that I didn’t have to start at a blank page, right? I didn’t have to start from scratch.
So think about the amount of time I saved on those future endeavors and the amount of reach that I can create from those. So if you are not sure how to do this, you know, a look at what I do, look at the, the way that we try to distribute stuff. I’m not gonna tell you by any stretch of the imagination that I am the best at doing this, but I’ve done it well enough that it’s afforded me a very successful business. Well, also having a very family friendly lifestyle. Second, if you want kind of the inner workings of this, you know, take a test drive of our coaching program. I mean, you can try out ideal business accelerator for six weeks free of charge and urge and experience it and see how this works firsthand. I, if it’s not awesome, if you don’t love it, don’t stay, but you can still learn from it. That’s probably one of the bigger missed opportunities I see people have is they, they get so caught up in the course. They, they don’t observe what the course creators are doing. They don’t understand how those people are building their business, where frankly, a lot of the time I get as much value out of that as I get from the curriculum that they put forward.
And, you know, if you are at a stage in your business where you already have some success and you wanna systemize it, reach out, send me an email at pat, patrigsby.com. And I’ll tell you about how we can package things up and systemize ’em Where maybe you can create a franchise. You can license your business. You can package things up and sell them to other business owners who would benefit from them, or even potentially, you know, roll this into multiple locations. If you choose so lots of different ways to create more leverage from what you’re doing, creating assets that allow you to have more impact, earn more income and have a better lifestyle.
