Hey, Pat Rigsby here. And in this episode, I want to talk to you about some simple lead generation strategies that you can put into action without paying for expensive ads or learning any new tech. So let’s get to it.

One of the most common questions or requests I get from fitness business owners is how to generate more leads without running Facebook ads. Maybe they’ve tried ads in the past and it didn’t work, maybe it worked but then it stopped working or it could just be that they don’t have the budget to put into paid advertising right now. Well, the good news is not only did I build my first business without any paid advertising but we’ve had clients build incredible businesses without running paid ads. And it’s all kind of boiled down to a couple simple tactics that I wanna teach you today. Really you’ve got a network or access to people that can bring you leads, that can make connections for you. And in fact, when we talk about marketing in our coaching programs the first leg of this three-legged stool that have is what we call connect because that’s really what we’re trying to do. We’re trying to connect with people who might be potential clients for our business.
Now, if you wanna connect with somebody new the first thing that we can do is simply just go to people that we already have a relationship with, people that may not have been invited into experience our business. I remember going to do a consulting session on site with a facility in Texas a few years back and we went in he trained clients at a really high level, he had a wonderful facility but when we went out to eat and when we kind of were doing things around the town, I would always ask, every time that he talked to somebody he’d talked to people at dinner, he’d talked to people anytime we walked anywhere it was almost like he was the mayor of the town but I would ask, hey, does this person train with you? Does that person train with you? And the answer was always no. Then I had to kind of question him and say, “Well, you know are you the best solution available to them? “Are you the best gym in this town?” And he had an emphatic yes to that question.
So he was doing these people a disservice by not inviting them in to experience what he has to offer, he was making some sort of assumption that maybe they wouldn’t wanna come in and train, or perhaps he was just afraid of rejection, he thought it might strain a relationship but the truth is if you’re the best person to help somebody you’re doing this person a disservice if you don’t invite them in to experience what you do and actually help them. Now, if they declined that’s fine. But we owe it to them and in fact the more we care about them the more we owe it to them, to invite them in, to experience what we do and potentially help them reach their goals and solve their problems.
So that’s the first thing, you have connections that you know neighbors, friends, coworkers in the past, service providers whether it be a dentist or a mechanic, or people who happen to just come clean the gutters or something like that. People that you can invite in. Sure you may be thinking well this person isn’t qualified or that person isn’t but I think we’ve all sold training to somebody in the past that we didn’t expect to be a buyer. We didn’t expect them to be able to invest what we ask people to invest in training or see the value in it, but the truth is if the desire is there many times they’re gonna find a way. So inviting people you already know is an untapped goldmine for so many of us. And if you haven’t been doing that that’s a great marketing opportunity that you have at your disposal. Now, the second thing that we work on very regularly with clients that I think that most of us should do more of is generate referrals through invitations.
We want to make it incredibly easy for our clients to invite other people in to experience what we do. We wanna do that from that initial point of sale when people are the most excited, I mean, let’s face it, they got these big aspirations, they finally made this life changing decision but they haven’t really had to do any of the work. So they’re really excited right then and there and so we want to allow them to invite somebody in to share this journey with, to share this experience with but then also to make them more comfortable as they get started. So we wanna make it easy for them to invite people then, then we also wanna create periodic opportunities for them to invite people in, to share this journey with them along the way, maybe you’re running a challenge, maybe you wanna have bring a friend day, or do a charity event, but anytime that we’re doing something that’s an event or maybe we even created an event specific to allow them to invite them people in, we wanna make it just a real kind of easy way for them to say, “You know what, “hey you should come with me and participate in this. “This would be a lot of fun, “I’d love to have you as my guest.” And we wanna coach them up on that and we may even give them tools like gift cards, or golden tickets to bring people in with them, but that’s the second one. So we wanna invite people that we already know that haven’t experienced what we do. We wanna let our clients extend invitations to the people in their lives. And then the third one which I think is probably the biggest untapped gold mine of all is we want to empower our clients to introduce us to the other people in their lives.
Now that seems like the same thing but it’s not, okay. Now them inviting somebody in that person has to show at our place at a specific time for a specific event. Really they have to be ready and willing to train, but if we can get an introduction to the other people in their lives, maybe it’s a business owner that we wanna potentially do one of our business of the month or corporate programs for, maybe it’s a business owner that we wanna form a strategic alliance with, maybe it’s somebody in a corporation that we wanna go do a lunch and learn, or an influencer for an organization that we wanna do public speaking for, there are these other people that we potentially wanna connect with that can open all sorts of doors for us in our local community, doors that we don’t necessarily have to pay to go through, we just have to invest a little bit of time and effort. So if you can connect with your current clients and ask for introductions to these other people, doors we’ll swing wide open for you. We’ve seen people get five figure corporate contracts from this sort of thing we’ve seen people generate just a flood of speaking engagements and really there have been strategic alliance’s stacking up one after the other. I know in my own businesses throughout the years this simple strategy alone has been worth seven figures. So I know it’s gonna have a powerful impact for you too.
So if you wanna generate more business without spending money on Facebook ads, the opportunity is there, the opportunity to go out and connect with new people, to invite people in, to get introductions to people so you never have to cold call. I mean, let’s face it the beauty of this approach, the beauty of these three different tactics is that you’re never talking to somebody that isn’t a warm lead, that isn’t either somebody you already know or somebody that you’ve been introduced to in a really positive way.
