Hey, Pat Rigsby here. And in this episode, I want to talk with you about this concept that I really kind of gravitate to as a business owner. And it’s this mentality of being open every day. Now I know that’s terminology that we don’t really talk about much. It’s probably not a phrase that you’ve heard a lot. So I’m going to provide some clarity and some steps you can take to benefit from this open everyday mindset in this episode,

Hey, Pat here, and let’s talk about being open every day. Now I’m guessing you’ve probably not heard anybody talk about this phrase before, and it’s just a mentality that I really gravitate to because I think there are four things that we need to do on a daily basis to, to really be open every day to be in a business that’s serving people consistently and not just episodically to be a business that is attracting people and converting people consistently. And not just when we’re desperate, when we have some attrition, when we need something, we want to have this open everyday mentality. And really they’re just these four things that I try to do each and every day that helps me stay focused, keep things simple, stay clear and really make progress week after week, month after month and year after year. So the first one pretty straight forward, I plan every day, the evening prior every day, I want to review the day that I had and say, what went well? What didn’t go well, where do I need to spend my time tomorrow? What needs to carry over? And maybe what did I have on my, to do list that doesn’t need to carry over. And so I’m going to plan my day with the obligations. I’m already committed to coaching sessions, appointments, things like that.
And then with the time that I have available beyond that, I’m going to look at where I want to go, the goals that I’m trying to achieve and make sure that I’m investing the time, energy and resources in those that are necessary to move forward. So I’m going to plan my day, the evening prior every time. And that’s setting things in motion, that’s really setting me up to succeed tomorrow. If you’re not doing this, you’re stepping into the next day in a reactive way. And frankly, it’s kind of surprising to me, but maybe it shouldn’t be that over 80 of the business owners I interact with. That’s how they do things. And you wonder why they’re in a situation where they’re really just an employee of their business. And sometimes an underpaid overworked employee of their business. Instead of behaving like an owner, this is your opportunity to behave like an owner, and really start to build the business that you want by planning your day, the evening prior.
So that’s step one – step two, we coach every day, even if we’re not coaching clients in person everyday, even if it’s a weekend, maybe we’re not going in whatever else. We need to have steps in motion where we’re coaching people every day. Either we’re doing it live or we’re creating resources, education, accountability, utilizing tools and technology, to make sure that our clients are staying on track every day. Not just the three days that they’re coming in the gym, because frankly, if they’re coming in the gym three days and they’re out of the gym four days, you know, we’re under 43% of the time. They’re actually with us just in the number of days. And frankly, it’s like three hours a week in many cases, instead of the hundred and 65 that they’re not with us. We need to embrace that. If somebody is under our care, the definition of a client, somebody under your care, we need to be coaching them each and every day. And we need to make sure that we’ve got touchpoints in place. We’ve got accountability in place. We’ve got a sense of connectedness and community in place for our clients. If we want them to get the best possible result.
So coaching every day, the next thing that happens each and every day is we’re generating new leads every day. If your only lead generation mode is a Facebook ad and you’re turning it on and off whenever, you know, whenever you feel like, Hey, you know what? My business is fine right now. I don’t need to generate leads. I don’t need to do anything. And you’re only, you’re only bringing people in whenever you have some attrition or you’re feeling a little bit of a financial crunch, you’re selling your business short. You’re not open every day. You have the opportunity to help new people each and every day. You need to get your message in front of people every day. And if you’re not connecting with at least one new person online or offline each and every day, you’re bound to struggle at some point because your competition is somebody out there need your help. And they’re going to connect with somebody new today. Make sure it’s you.
And then the fourth thing that I focus on every day is I’m selling every day. This is a business, right? We are in a value exchange business, and I need to serve somebody new every day. I need to make sure that I’m able to help somebody new every day. And that’s only going to happen if they become a client. So I am doing the prospects that are in my marketplace, the people in my community, a disservice, if I’m not selling training every day, if I’m not selling my services each and every day, now I have kind of hammered this concept home throughout this short little episode. But that’s how simple this should be to you. When you wake up, this is your job today, I’m going to coach, I’m going to connect. I’m going to sell. And then I’m going to plan tomorrow so that I can do those things more effectively, more efficiently, more productively. I’m going to do this repeatedly until I get to the business that I want. And frankly, at that point, it’s not done. Being a business owner is never done. It’s just, you’ve optimized this system where it becomes a habit where it becomes like clockwork for you. And if you want your business to run like clockwork, I would encourage you to embrace these four steps plan each day, coach each day, connect with a new prospect each day, sell each day. You do that, and you’re going to see your business skyrocket. You’re going to see your business regardless of the economic circumstances you’re in, regardless of the landscape that we’re facing, you will be a business that thrives.
